What’s New?

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

And now the May update from Meyersonland:

  • The kid is really starting to walk, which is immensely gratifying. She’s always been a physically inert baby — she never really accomplished much during tummy time, couldn’t sit up on her own until 8 months, couldn’t get herself out of a lying position until well past a year. So now it just warms our dark little hearts to see her stand up and toddle confidently. In other news, she just finished writing her second novel, this one a roman-a-clef about life in day care.
  • Annette has been massively busy with Shine, but the site is performing marvelously well. She’s had to take her fair share of business trips to LA, NYC, Chicago, which means I get more time with the aforementioned kid. No complaints there. And hey, in my Wells Fargo years I had my share of exotic business trips, including Omaha, Des Moines, Las Cruces, and El Paso.
  • And no business travel for me. Oh yes, there was the possibility of red-eyein’ to ATL for a meeting. Thankfully, it didn’t happen; it would have taken me a week to get over my carbon guilt.
  • My job is going just fine. Actually, it’s kind of fun to be back in the weeds of Product Management after years of managing teams. I feel like I’m working again.

Finally, a shout-out to my cousin Matt.

Shine on!

Yahoo! Shine launched this evening. Annette’s been slaving away on this for nine months — too appropriate for a women’s blog hub, no?

Anyway, go check it out. It’s pretty great.

Finally, we’re hosting a party for Obama on April 13th. If you’d like to hang with like-minded geniuses, email me for an invite.

Happy Halloween

It was a spooky, foggy Halloween morning.

The earth shook.

And then, our jack-o-lantern came to life.

It ate everything in the house before rolling away into the mist.

Happy Halloween, y’all.

Since We Last Spoke

The new job at Yahoo! has been fun so far. Great team, smart people, company definitely on the upswing.

Officially, my title is Senior Product Manager, Monetization, My Yahoo, although the responsibilities have branched into some traditional product management and internationalization. Monetization. Internationalization. Monetization. Internationalization. Just like I dreamed when I was a kid.

How awesome am I? Enjoy this this chart of Yahoo’s vs. Wells Fargo’s performance since I started working at Yahoo. That’s a 21% gain for Yahoo in five and half weeks, my friends. And a (2.5)% loss for Wells Fargo. Yes, I do this kind of thing everywhere I go.  I guess that’s why friends call me “Midas.” Or maybe it’s “My ass.” I can’t always hear so well through my own humming.
In other news, the kid turned one on Sunday. She napped through most of her party, but she awoke to taste mama’s fruit-sweetened cake. It was a hit with the big girl, if not with the adults:

Finally, my cousin Shana was on Today this morning. She runs a fabulous kids’ yoga program in So Cal called Mini Yogis, and this morning she was promoting yoga as a method to relieve “tween stress.”

You know what stressed me out? The Today segment’s pacing — maybe linger on a shot for more than 1.2 seconds, dude. Maybe cut back on the cliche movie clips. Still, Shana looked great.

And that’s that. I will be updating this site more often now, scout’s honor. As always, you can find more proliferation on my other blog. You know where that is.
